SailTimer: A Navigation App for Sailboats
SailTimer is a full version navigation app that provides a quick and easy display of your optimal tacks and TTD® (Tacking Time to Destination). It is specifically designed for sailboats and takes into account the distance traveled while tacking. The app features worldwide vector charts, Google Maps, and aerial photos. You can import your Navionics charts with a yearly subscription. The app also has a wind gauge button that shows True and Apparent Wind Angle and Direction (TWD, TWA, AWD, AWA) in True-North and Magnetic-North reference.
The app allows you to add new waypoints or select from a list. You can see the optimal tacks to each waypoint, and the optimal tacks are the same headings whether you do the port or starboard tack first. The app comes with a default polar plot for calculating optimal tacks, which you can edit. You can also learn the custom polar for your boat. The GPS track can be displayed under options, and you can save a screenshot to view or share your trip later.
